Second grade at OldSchool is a combination of review of fundamental skills and teaching new, higher level concepts while building more independent classroom skills.

Like other grade levels, our second grade teachers partner with parents by teaching new lessons in class on Mondays and Wednesdays that parents will then reinforce at home on homeschool days. Each co-op day, our second graders will build on previous concepts as well as receive instruction for new concepts in math (Saxon Math 2), reading (All About Reading 3), spelling (All About Spelling 3) and grammar (Shurley English Level 2).

We also spend time on world geography, science, poetry/memory work, music, art and Christlike character traits (kindness, patience, gentleness, self-control, etc.) throughout the week.

In addition to these subjects taught at school, we assign logic and handwriting assignments to be completed at home.

Second grade is full of hands-on world geography exploration, science experiments, learning games, and collaborative small group work as our students learn from some amazing teachers!
