4th Grade
Our 4th grade classroom at OldSchool offers a Christ-centered learning environment that nurtures both academic growth and spiritual development.
Instruction includes a variety of teaching methods such as group work, collaborative discussion, storytelling, demonstrations, and focused mini-lessons to actively engage students. Each day also includes Christian devotion, helping students build character, faith, and a love of learning within a supportive classroom community. Within our devotion, we include prayer and opportunities to reflect on biblical principles as they relate to learning, character, and relationships. Students are encouraged to grow not only academically, but also spiritually, as they develop responsibility, kindness, and respect for others.
Overall, our goal is to create a joyful, structured classroom where students feel supported, challenged, and valued—growing in both knowledge and faith as part of a learning community.
Each co-op day, our fourth graders receive instruction for new concepts in math (Saxon Math 5/4), reading (novel studies), spelling (All About Spelling 5), Writer’s Workshop, and grammar (Shurley English Level 4).
We also spend time on history, science, poetry/memory work, music and art throughout the week.
