5th Grade
Our 5th grade classroom at OldSchool encourages students to learn through a hands on style. We want students to learn through interactions with one another as well as through activities. Each day is different and unique and we love it!
We start our day with a morning meeting to build relationships, pray for one another, and complete memory work. Throughout the day, we incorporate math (Saxon Math 6/5), reading (literature based novel studies that include vocabulary and comprehension), grammar (Shurley English Level 5) and creative writing/handwriting (Handwriting Without Tears 5th grade).
We also include science in our week that incorporates units of study, experiments, and other hands-on learning activities. For history, we use Our Star Spangled Banner Part 2, along with notebooking, narration, and projects.
Additional parts of our day include Christ-like character trait discussions, art, and music.
