Considering what to do with your preschooler-sixth grader?

There’s no school like OldSchool!

We LOVE Jesus and we love to talk about him in all of our classes! Our goal in each class is to teach to the heart first, with academics a close second. We love to partner with parents in building strong and confident children, in an environment that seeks to share and display the love of our Heavenly Father for them! We hope you choose to partner with us!

  • At OldSchool, our preschool classes are about discovery through playing with a purpose. We love all things sensory; you name it, we most likely love playing and teaching with it!

In Pre-K A, students will enjoy discovering their world through planned themes and play throughout the year. The children are exposed to learning colors, shapes, letters and their sounds, numbers, counting and more. This learning is achieved though manipulatives, games, songs, and good old fashion fun. PK-A provides instruction in social, emotional, and behavioral skills that will prepare your children for the next steps in their growth. Recommended age for PK-A is 3 years old turning 4.

  • In our Pre-K B class, the children have all of the same fun as our Pre-K A class, but we incorporate a more concentrated time of learning in reading groups, mastering letters and letter sound recognition, numbers and patterns, as well as logic and reasoning. We even have time to learn some French and sign language from Ms. Josée!

We love to embrace the joy of learning and the magic of discovery about the world that surrounds them as they experience different centers each day (Sensory, STEM, Art, Letters, Numbers, and Creative Playtime to name a few) as we dive into our different unit studies. Throughout the year we learn about the weather, seasons, our calendar and other skills that prepare them for kindergarten. Seeing the importance of hiding God’s word in our heart, we love to memorize a bible verse together each month, working through how to practice and apply characteristics of Jesus individually and as a class.

The recommended age for PK-B is 4 years old turning 5.

  • Kindergarten at OldSchool has just the right balance of play and structured learning as your child subtly eases into the role of “student”. We use the All About Reading curriculum for teaching phonograms, vocabulary, learning to read, and comprehension. All About Spelling is included in their day as they learn basic spelling patterns and practice spelling words that use these patterns by playing games. We use Saxon for math and pair it with hands on games, activites, and manipulatives to instill concepts. The children also enjoy logic, science, sign language, and memory/poetry. Kindergarten enjoys having mystery readers twice a month that read to the class (parents, grandparents or siblings can surprise the kindergarteners by reading a favorite book to the class).

  • In first through fifth grades, we offer core subjects: math, grammar, writing, reading/comprehension, spelling and handwriting (up to third grade cursive). Logic, Science, and History/Geography are also woven into our days! OldSchool sets the scope and sequence for the year in each subject, teaching new concepts on Monday and Wednesdays, and you will apply them at home on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

  • 6th grade is returning to OldSchool for the 26-27 school year! You will find core subjects taught such as literature, math, bible, grammar, rhetoric, and more.
